Bible Passage: Galatians 5:15 But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.
The choice is ours to make, destroy or build, hate or love, show bitterness or peace. Our world has become so polarized, with hate and discontent. The war of words only fuels the fire of anger and frustration. We need to be on our knees, humbled before our God, yet we stand tall in our bitterness and march rather than pray.
I do not like our current direction, but rhetoric does not change the heart. So, I will pray for God’s intervention, for God to change man's heart. My shouting in dissension only adds fuel to the fire of discontent. My quiet time in prayer has the power to change because God is still in charge and not surprised by what is happening.
We are devouring each other, and the emotions consume us. We fail to understand that prayers can transform when words ignite. What we do in our displeasure speaks volumes to who has our hearts and minds.
Joshua said it best when faced with the bitterness of his day, “If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the river or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
It is hard to watch jobs lost, wealth evaporate, fear and anxiety fueled without reaction, so down on my knees, I must go, humbled before a Holy God who knows how I feel and is the only One to change the hearts of man. I am convinced it will only worsen until His people surrender to Him in prayer.
The call to change has been made. What will be your response?
