Bible Passage: Proverbs 4:23 Watch over your heart with all diligence, for the springs of life flow from it.
Our words and actions usher forth from the depths of our being. If we are unsettled in our inner being, life will be a mess. Contentment flows when we are at peace, and this only comes from the presence of God in our lives.
We live in a fallen world corrupted by sin and its selfishness. There is no harmony in evil because we will never be able to satisfy ourselves. Our flesh will always want more.
As I sit and meditate on today’s scripture, I realize that life is good when I seek Christ with all my being. My flesh is satisfied when my heart realizes that God’s Spirit is always with me.
The busyness of life distracts me from the truth. I do not need more time, stuff, or adulation; I need Jesus! He is the Author and Finisher of life. When He fills my being, the overflow of His love flows from me. I am a new creation in Christ.
I have this fleshly body, and it craves fleshly things that never satisfy. I must die to myself and rise in Christ. He must be my heart’s desire. When this occurs, I can endure all things and am enabled to be a source of His grace and mercy.
If left to my own devices, the best I could expect is chaos and unrest. I am a sinful man who needs a Savior to change my heart and mind so that others may find rest in God’s grace through His presence in my life.
We all have choices to make. Walking humbly with our God fills our hearts and minds with His presence, foiling the evil schemes of this world that corrupt us from the inside out.
What fills your heart and mind? Is God a priority in your life? Do you desire more or less of the world you live in? The answer to these questions helps you see what lies deep within your heart and flows from you in terms of words and actions. Let’s make better choices and change life’s narrative, making the grace of God be the fruits of our efforts.
