Bible Passage: Matt. 27:63-64 “Sir, we remember that when He was still alive, that deceiver said, ‘After three days I am to rise again.’ “Therefore, give orders for the grave to be made secure until the third day, otherwise His disciples may come and steal Him away and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”

I have often wondered what the world must think of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We have no eyewitnesses to His suffering, death, and resurrection that contradict or refute the facts. It was not until all these eyewitnesses died off that people questioned the facts.

Think about this for a moment. No one in recorded history died, rose again, and ascended into heaven before eyewitnesses who watched it happen. It does not take a biblical scholar to understand what happened. More impressive is that Jesus predicted these events before they happened, and many prophets also predicted these events thousands of years before. The prophets described these events using words like crucifixion before the concept was even created.

Irrefutable evidence is essential to proving the truth in a court of law. Lawyers argue to sway juries, but eyewitness evidence rules the day. Christ’s crucifixion must be different. If we accept this truth, we might have to consider why He was crucified, and the life He described for us would not fit today’s lifestyle.

Christ was not trying to deceive anyone. He described His death and resurrection to help all understand that He died and was resurrected to set us free from sin. The truth has been presented. It is up to mankind to decide what this truth might mean today. You are a part of the jury. How do you vote?
